A Spring Cleaning Checklist for Minnesota Homeowners
When spring finally arrives in Minnesota, we're all excited to see the last of the snow melt and eager to spend some quality time outdoors again. Unfortunately, spring trades snow days for heavy rainstorms. If you're cooped up inside on a rainy spring day, why not make the most of it by giving your house a spring cleaning?
Whether it's a brand new house that you've just moved into or a long-owned home that you're thinking about selling, a spring cleaning may be just what your home needs to look its best. Are you ready to make your house in Minnesota beautifully clean? Then just follow our spring cleaning checklist!
The Chris Fritch Team's Spring Cleaning Checklist
General Cleanup - There are some kinds of TLC that just about every room in your home might benefit from. Of course, there's the basic stuff like vacuuming floors and dusting furniture, but you'll want to go beyond that for a thorough spring cleaning. If you've been slacking off on washing your windows or cleaning out your vents, now's a great time to finally get around to it. You should also dust some areas that normally get ignored, like light fixtures and window shades. When you find junk cluttering up any part of your house, especially closets and basements, get rid of it. Soon enough, your home in Minnesota will look cleaner than ever!
Bedrooms - Your bedroom is your place of refuge but it's also one of those rooms that seems to get dirty the quickest. As part of your spring cleaning, wash all of your bedding and pillows, and clean your bedroom carpet while you're at it. You should also clean out your bedroom closet. If you find clothes in there that haven't been worn in years, maybe it's time to donate them to someone who will wear them.
Bathrooms - It's common for bathrooms to be the filthiest rooms in a house, and that's partially because deep-cleaning them takes a lot of work. But if you're giving your home in Minnesota a spring cleaning, it's time to tackle all those chores you've neglected. Clean all showers, bathtubs, sinks and toilets, making sure to eradicate any nasty grime. While you're at it, clean your mirrors and counters until they sparkle. Old, unused supplies or towels collecting dust in your cabinets? Throw the junk away!
Kitchen - Your kitchen should be another area of focus during your home's spring cleaning. Instead of just running your dishwasher and mopping your floors, give your fridge and pantry a thorough cleaning. Wipe them down with disinfectant wipes to make sure your food doesn't get contaminated with bacteria, and dispose of any food that is expired. Also, if you can't recall the last time you deep-cleaned your oven or vacuumed under your fridge, add these tasks to your spring cleaning checklist.
Home Office - If you have a home office, whether it's mainly used for file storage or you've been working remotely out of it, then it could probably do with a spring cleaning. Go through any unorganized stacks of paperwork to sort it out, disposing of anything you don't need. Clean up your working desk, and wipe down your computer monitor, mouse and keyboard with disinfectant wipes. A spring cleaning can transform your office from a cluttered mess into a tidy space that's conducive to getting good work done.
